The Mess Isn’t Who You Are. It’s How ADHD Works.
If you have ADHD, you already know the cycle. The apartment gets messy. You tell yourself you’ll clean it. You can’t start. The mess grows. The anxiety grows. The anxiety makes it even harder to start. Repeat.
This isn’t a motivation problem. It’s executive dysfunction — the documented difficulty ADHD brains have with initiating tasks, sustaining attention, managing time, and tolerating the overwhelm of multi-step processes. Cleaning involves all of those things at once.
Many of Fress’s most loyal recurring clients are ADHD-diagnosed adults who found that having a consistent, judgment-free team removed one of the most persistent stressors from their week. Not because cleaning cured anything. Because one less thing to initiate changed everything.
This Isn’t a Standard Cleaning Service. Here’s What’s Different
Same Team, Every Time — No Strangers
Anxiety about a stranger in your space is one of the most common reasons ADHD adults cancel appointments. Fress assigns you a consistent team who learns your space, your preferences, and your pace. By the second visit, it’s someone familiar. That matters.
We Don’t Need You to Prepare. We Don’t Judge What We Find.
We have cleaned apartments in every state imaginable. Nothing shocks us. Nothing bothers us. You don’t need to pre-clean, explain, or apologize. Book the clean. Let us handle the rest.
For Large Clutter Jobs: We Work WITH You, Not Around You
For bigger clutter or organization jobs, we ask that you be home and part of the process. This isn’t a requirement we invented — it’s something we learned from experience. When clients are involved in deciding where things go, they feel comfortable in the space afterward. When they’re not, even the most beautiful result can feel wrong and disorienting. Your input matters for these jobs.
Flexible Cancellation — Because ADHD Days Happen
Cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before with no penalty. We’d rather you reschedule than avoid booking permanently.
Sensory-Aware Cleaning
Many neurodivergent adults have sensory sensitivities to scents, sounds, or sudden changes. Tell us your preferences at booking. We use eco-friendly, non-toxic, fragrance-adjustable products. We can adjust our timing and process to match your environment.
Recurring Plans as an Executive Function Tool
A recurring clean removes the initiation task permanently. The decision is already made. The schedule is set. You don’t have to think about it again. That’s not a luxury — for an ADHD brain, that’s an accommodation.
What to Expect — Our Process for Larger or Clutter-Involved Jobs
For standard recurring cleans, we show up, we clean, you come home to a fresh space. Simple.
For larger jobs involving clutter, organizing, or whole-apartment resets, our process has a few more steps — and for good reason. Here’s how we protect your space, your belongings, and your peace of mind:

1. Pre-Job Call or Walk-Through
Before any large clutter or organizational job, we do a brief walk-through — in person or by video — to understand the scope, discuss what stays and what goes, and agree on an organization system. No surprises.

2.Placement Agreement
For jobs involving moving or organizing belongings, we agree in writing on how items will be organized before we touch anything. This gives you a record and gives us clear direction. It protects both of us.

3. You Are Part of the Process
For larger jobs, we ask that you be home and available to make decisions with our team during the clean. This isn’t a burden — it’s actually the most important part. ADHD brains sometimes experience anxiety when a familiar space changes, even when that change is positive. Being part of the process means the change happens WITH you, not TO you.

4. Real-Time Photo Documentation
During the job, we send you photos of progress in real time. You have a visual record of where everything went. No second-guessing, no ‘where is my thing.’

4. 48-Hour Settling Period
After a large clutter job, we ask for a 48-hour settling period before formal feedback. This is intentional. It gives your nervous system time to adjust to a cleaner, more organized space — which can initially feel unfamiliar even when it’s exactly what you wanted. Most clients who initially feel ‘off’ in a freshly cleaned space feel completely at home within a day or two. Your card is held at booking and charged only at completion.
How ADHD Makes Cleaning Hard — And How We Help
Here’s an honest look at what’s actually going on — and what having a consistent cleaning team does about each one:
Scenario | Risk | Fress Protocol |
Unmedicated ADHD — large clutter job | Object permanence anxiety, post-clean dysregulation, refund demands | Customer MUST be present for sorting phase. Placement agreement signed before start. Real-time photo updates sent during job. |
Customer overwhelmed by clean space | Unfamiliar with order triggers anxiety spiral | 48-hour settling period before any feedback is accepted. Written scope-of-work prevents retroactive claims. |
Hyper-focus on minor details after clean | Escalating texts, complaints about item placement | Labeled organization system agreed before job. Photo record sent at completion showing final state. |
Large job, customer not home | No one to make decisions, items moved without consent | For jobs over 3 rooms or Level 2+ clutter: customer or authorized representative must be present. |
Customer claims unaffordability after service | Possible remorse or financial dysregulation | Clear written quote confirmed before booking. Card hold placed at booking. Charge processed at completion with no surprises. |
Which Fress Plan Works for an ADHD Brain?

Weekly — For High-Clutter Situations
If your apartment goes from clean to overwhelming within days, weekly cleaning is the right call. You never reach the point where the mess becomes paralyzing. Best for: ADHD adults with high-traffic spaces, roommates, or severe executive dysfunction challenges.

Bi-Weekly — The Sweet Spot for Most ADHD Adults
Every two weeks gives you a consistent reset without over-engineering. Our most popular plan for ADHD clients. You handle what you can; we handle the thorough clean that keeps things from building.

Monthly — The Reset
A monthly professional reset prevents gradual buildup. Good pairing: monthly Fress clean plus a deep clean quarterly.

One-Time — Start Here if You’re Not Ready to Commit
Not sure yet? Start with a single clean. No commitment, no pressure. Most of our ADHD recurring clients started here. The answer to ‘was it worth it’ is almost always: yes.
What Does ADHD-Friendly Cleaning Cost in NYC?
Pricing is based on apartment size and frequency. For exact rates, our booking form shows live pricing for your specific situation.
How most ADHD clients think about the cost: weekly bi-weekly or monthly cleaning isn’t a luxury expense. It’s what they pay to stop losing hours every week to cleaning anxiety, avoidance, and shame. Most say it’s the most cost-effective mental health investment they make.
- First-time clients: $30 off your first clean
- Weekly recurring: 10% off every visit
- Bi-weekly recurring: 5% off every visit
- Monthly recurring: 3% off every visit
- Referral program: you and your referral both receive a credit
When It’s More Than a Standard Clean Can Handle
ADHD and clutter accumulation are clinically connected. Object permanence challenges, difficulty discarding, and the executive dysfunction that prevents systematic clearing can lead to spaces that go well beyond what a routine clean addresses.
If you’re reading this thinking your space is beyond a regular clean — you’re not alone, and you’re not beyond help. Fress also provides specialized severe clutter cleaning and hoarding cleanup services, delivered with the same zero-judgment approach.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can’t start cleaning because of executive dysfunction?
That’s exactly why we exist. You don’t have to start anything. Book the clean — that’s the only initiation required. We handle the rest.
What if my apartment is too messy for a cleaner?
It isn’t. We have cleaned apartments in every state imaginable. We don’t comment, judge, or react. We just clean.
Do I need to be home?
For standard recurring cleans: no. For larger clutter or organizing jobs: yes, we ask that you’re present and available to make decisions with our team. This protects your belongings and your comfort in the space afterward.
What if I feel anxious or uncomfortable after the clean?
This is more common than people realize, especially after a large organizational job. A familiar space that’s suddenly very clean or different can feel disorienting. We ask for a 48-hour settling period before formal feedback — most clients feel completely at home within a day or two. If anything genuinely wasn’t done right, we’ll come back and fix it.
Will I always get the same cleaner?
Yes. Recurring clients get a consistent team. For ADHD clients especially, no strangers, no explanations, no anxiety about who is showing up.
What about sensory sensitivities?
Tell us at booking. We use eco-friendly, non-toxic, fragrance-adjustable products and can adjust our process to minimize disruptive sounds or smells.
Can I cancel last minute?
Free rescheduling or cancellation up to 24 hours before your booking. Same-day cancellations have a fee. We’d rather you reschedule than avoid us permanently.
Do you work with ADHD coaches for referrals?
Yes. We welcome referral relationships with ADHD coaches, therapists, and OTs in NYC. Contact info@fressclean.com.
